According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, she was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Recently, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
