It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.
