Much like Storm Claudia tore through the northwest the prior day, Manchester City blew the visitors away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing three goal triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they consolidated their place at the top of the table.

Successive Defeats for United

This scoreline represented successive league defeats for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them seven points off the top team with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

Manchester United's capacity to balance league and continental soccer with a small roster has been a hotly discussed issue since they earned a place in the European competition. Considering the schedule, it always appeared this was the matchday that would seriously challenge this ability. Sadly for the visitors, they appeared fatigued all game, the memorable win against PSG clearly having left its mark.

Tactical Shifts
